Mark Mettille
Managing Partner
Mark is an experienced, dynamic manager and sales professional with over 25 years of experience in employee benefits and insurance, including executive positions with some of the industry’s largest companies.
Mark is the owner of GIS Benefits, Inc., a group General Agency specializing in employer paid and voluntary Dental, Life, Disability, Accident, Vision and Worksite products. Mark has grown GIS Benefits to 350 million dollars of in-force premium with over 20 offices nationwide.
In 2019, Mark, along with Mike Castle and Michael Goolsby, founded GIS Communications to address the needs of employers to communicate, educate and enroll employees in both core and voluntary worksite benefits.
Mike Castle

Mike has been an innovative industry leader since 1988. In 1992, he founded Employee Benefit Communications (EBC), a national enrollment firm working with large benefit brokerage houses and which eventually became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Combined Insurance Company of America, an Aon Company. There he developed enrollment management and point-of-sale software. Over time, Mike developed key software to assist in the sale and enrollment of clients and their employees for both core and telephonic enrollment operations. Mike is the pioneer in the development of telephonic enrollment methodology utilizing voice-stamping technology in lieu of a wet signature.
Mike founded Beneport in 2005 to address the rising demand for Benefit Center (telephonic) and online enrollment solutions for clients, consultants, brokers and carriers.
Mike attended Southern Illinois University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Journalism. He is very active in the worksite industry and is a frequent speaker at industry functions, as well as publication in trade journals, like Benefits Selling.
Michael Goolsby

In 2019, Michael Goolsby, along with Mark Mettille and Mike Castle, founded GIS Communications to address the needs of employers to communicate, educate and enroll employees in both core and voluntary worksite benefits.
Michael comes to GIS Communications after a successful 15-year career on the ancillary carrier side. Here Michael was a perennial leader’s qualifier, mentor for the new rookie trainees and held various Leadership positions. In his new role, Michael’s passion remains the same, to create deep relationships with carriers, broker and employers.
As GIS Communications National Sales Director, Michael works closely with GIS Benefits sales representatives, carriers, brokers and employers to provide communication and educational solutions tailored to each employer’s specific needs. Mike’s knowledge of voluntary and worksite products, along with expertise around effective communication and education strategies make him a valued resource.
Michael graduated from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame in 2004 with a degree in Marketing. He is active in the local community with various charitable organizations.
Barbara Housand
Vice President, Client Services & Communications
With over twenty years of experience in the worksite industry, Barbara leverages her knowledge and expertise to provide successful strategies and solutions for clients.
As GIS Communications Vice President, Client Services & Communications, Barbara specializes in implementation and project management, delivering the best possible service to clients.
Barbara is also a passionate employee benefits educator and communicator, developing pre-enrollment communication campaigns, including emails, memos, flyers, posters, benefit guides, video scripts for clients.
Barbara holds a Bachelors degree in Marketing from the University of South Florida.
